WELCOME OUR NEW ASSOCIATE FOR MUSIC!
After a lengthy and thorough search for a Music Associate, who will coordinate all music for Emmanuel Episcopal Church, With the wardens agreement and support, I have called George Tarasuk to be with us. Currently, George is the organist/choirmaster for All Saints Anglican Church in Bolingbrook, IL. He has over twenty years’ experience as a liturgical musician, directing the choirs and prepare rehearsals, anthems, hymns and service music. What fascinated the clergy, choir and music advisory committee was his design of a personal website for the purpose of teaching choristers to learn and practice in a "virtual rehearsal" space. He has led a series of "Technotyme" workshops for church musicians to assist them developing their own music databases and web sites. We were impressed that he instituted a children’s choral program and concert series. In his experience he has instituted a performing arts series and formed a committee to administer fundraising, marketing and receptions and planned a major capital campaign for the purchase of a new pipe organ. Along with teaching keyboard to students he is versed in many instruments and vocal skills.
As with most church musicians, George has a full time position. He is a Grants Officer/Information Systems Analyst for the Illinois Arts Council in Chicago. He lives in La Grange with his wife and two children. If you would like to welcome George please e-mail him at email@example.com.
George’s present contract with All Saints requires him to stay for one month and after he has completed that requirement he will be at Emmanuel on December 1, 2013. Until that time we are very thankful for Janet Cottrell who will be at the organ and directing the choir for the months of October and November.
