Vision Statement

Emmanuel Episcopal Church is uniquely embodied in the embrace of scripture, tradition and reason.  We seek to encourage Christian formation and fellowship, to involve more people in ministries, to share our gifts and blessings with others, and to be a welcoming place for worship and celebration.

.

Please join us for worship on Sunday at 8am and at 10am.

CHILDREN OF ALL AGES are welcome in our worship services here at Emmanuel.  If you wish, childcare is offered for infants and young children from 9:45am until the 10:00am service is over. The nursery is located in the South Building (across the hallway from the main church).

CHILDREN'S CHAPEL, For those children who are too young to participate in the entire 10:00 AM liturgy, Emmanuel offers a children’s chapel during the first half hour of that liturgy service. Children hear the gospel in terms accessible to them. They then process into the church to join their families at the time that parishioners exchange the peace with each other.

Emmanuel's 135th Anniversary Celebration: November 15, 2009

On Sunday, November 15, please join us for a festive worship service at 9:30am celebrating our 135th anniversary as a parish.  We will welcome many of our former clergy as they have accepted an invitation to be with us and take part in the service.  During the service, you will be invited to come forward at the offering and bring your pledge cards for 2010 as part of "Commitment Sunday."

Following the service, join us in Deadman Hall for a celebration luncheon of sandwiches, salads and dessert. The memorial hall will have been decorated with photos and other colorful memorabilia depicting our history.  A $5.00 donation is suggested for each person attending the lunch to help us cover the costs of the food.  Please RSVP to the parish office by Tuesday afternoon, November 10, so we will know better how to plan for this wonderful occasion.

We'll have the opportunity to hear from several parishioners about their experiences at Emmanuel, take group photos of this special event, sign the back of our "memory quilt" and place orders for our memorial cookbook.

If you wish to extend the celebration into the afternoon, the Chicago Choral Artists will offer their fall concert in the church beginning at 2:00pm.

The 2009 Sudan benefit weekend was a great success by any measure – over 200 people for worship on Friday evening, about 170 runners/walkers on Saturday morning, many volunteers of all ages helping out, great neighborhood support and over $6000 raised to send to the Diocese of Renk for the medical clinic in Melut.  Well done!  We have a few extra T-shirts for sale - $10 each, L/XL only – if you would like to add one of these to your collection.
